I grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I attended and graduated from Soquel High School in 1987. After which, I served four years in the US Navy. I worked on the environmental control and ejection systems of the F-14A, F14A+, and the F-14D (Super Tom Cat) fighter jets. I served most of my time at NAS Miramar in San Diego (now Miramar Marine Corp Air Base,) but I spent time aboard the USS Ranger(CVA 61,) USS Independence (CV 62,) and the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72.) I received my honorable discharge in 1992 with the rank of AMS3 (Petty office 3rd class.)
After the Navy, I went into the construction business with my father, where I continued my knowledge gathering in various aspects of the construction trades.
I have been in or around the construction industry for most of my life. My grandfather and my father were construction developers. My first summer job was sweeping out houses that my father was building. I have worked on every aspect of home and commercial building construction.
In my spare time, I enjoy working around my home and in my shop. I am an avid wood worker. I love the smell of fresh sawdust in the morning.
My wife and I spend much of our spare time either working in the garden or remodeling our home. We are passionate about gardening. We plan out our garden every summer for the next spring.
